"It's Not Just Birding, It's an Adventure"

Kingfisher – Port Aransas

by | Nov 20, 2021

From the Central Texas Coast the Kingfisher in Port Aransas is pretty fast party boat capable of 15-18 knots in relatively calm seas. Even though the shelf edge from Port A is between 53 to 60 nautical miles offshore the Kingfisher can make good time getting us out to beyond the edge of the continental shelf in about 4 hours, which is comparable to what the slower Osprey can do from South Padre Island. As of the end of 2018 we have now run 3 trips on the Kingfisher and it has proven to be a very good boat for pelagic birding. Here is a photo of the Kingfisher operated by Captain Kelly’s Deep Sea Headquarters.
