Sailing from South Padre Island the Isabella Boat is well suited for pelagic birding trips.  It is a catamaran which will be a more stable platform than a single hulled boat. It is 85 ft long and yet can cruise at 16 – 17 knots which will shorten the time needed to cruise to the shelf edge. It can accommodate 49 passengers and has a large open upper deck with lots of bench seating.  The open main deck is a nice feature allowing birders to view from both sides of the boat by just turning around instead of having to scramble to the opposite side of the boat should you find yourself on the wrong side of a good seabird sighting.
