Report Transcribed from 1997 Texas Deepwater Pelagic Trips Newsletter
Copyrighted By: Dwight Peake and Mark Elwonger

The September trip was noteworthy for finding a “common” type tern that could have possibly been an Arctic. But the bird everyone will remember, as we neared shore, was an immature Red-billed Tropicbird that flew directly over the boat from a nearby rig.

Dwight’s video, if accepted by the Texas Bird Records Committee, will be only the third Texas record.

 FINAL TRIP LIST :

TOTAL PELAGIC SPECIES – 3
TOTAL PELAGIC SEABIRDS  5

Magnificent Frigatebird – 3
Red-billed Tropicbird – 1
Common Tern – 1

Map of the trip track is unavailable.
